It was June 19, 1976 when Centas AB delivered its first TV sets for rental. The start of today’s business was for the King and Queen’s wedding in the Great Church, where Centas had rented out twenty TV sets. In addition, lunch guests at the palace could follow the procession via ten receivers, also installed by Centas. At the time, it was so sensational that it was featured in the newspaper.

It was a big day for the company, which has since become a leading technology provider of audiovisual solutions for businesses and events.

Constant striving to deliver high quality technology

But this is only the beginning of the story of Centas Konferens TV AB. Before Centas started supplying TV sets for rental, their core business consisted of installing a central antenna system with a “TV2 add-on” to ensure reception of the new channel, TV2. In the good old days, TV2 was broadcast on the UHF band, while TV1 was broadcast on the VHF band. This shows how Centas has always strived to deliver high quality technology to its customers.

Two people who came to play an important role in the history of Centas were Tommy Björklund and Berndt Skagerlund. Tommy was working at Stockholmsmässan at the time and came into contact with Centas, which was and still is a supplier of AV technology to Stockholmsmässan. In 1989, Tommy and Berndt took over the company and have since worked together with their coworkers to build up the company to what it is today. Bernd has now retired and Tommy runs Centas together with his employees.

One of Centa’s key principles is to always work with the highest quality, both in their products and their staff. This principle has helped them build the company and create a strong relationship with their customers.
